Mahendranagar: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba dismissed the recent demonstrations by supporters of the former king as “meaningless,” stating that the monarchist movement has ended.

Speaking at Janakpurdham Airport before attending a memorial event in honor of late Congress leader Thakur Prasad Dhungana, Deuba said such protests were anti-republican and unacceptable, as the republic was established through the sacrifice and struggle of the people.

He also criticized opposition parties for obstructing parliament over calls for the Home Minister’s resignation, calling the demand “irrational.”

President Deuba is scheduled to attend various events in Dhanusha during his visit.
